Diamond Education Series Part 3 What is a Diamond Color
What You Need to Know About Diamond Color
Did you know diamonds come in different colors? The color of a diamond is one of the 4 Cs that significantly impacts its appearance and value.
💎 The Color Scale: Diamonds are graded on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). The less color a diamond has, the higher its grade and value. A D-grade diamond is considered rare and the most desirable, offering maximum brilliance.
💎 Why It Matters: A colorless diamond (D-F) allows more light to pass through, giving it a stunning sparkle. A diamond with a slight yellow tint (K-Z) can still be beautiful, but it may have a softer, warmer tone.
There are also rare diamonds in color hues as blue, green and even red. There are a range of yellow diamonds that have various color hues and can be rare and pricey as well.
If you want a diamond with maximum brilliance and radiance, you’ll want to lean toward a higher color grade. But keep in mind, diamonds closer to the Z end of the scale can still be stunning in certain settings.
