November Diabetes Awareness Month Special Collection
November is a special month and has many topics that are brought to attention and focus, one of them being Diabetes Awareness. As Diabetes runs in my family and my grandmother Jeni suffered for many years with this debilitating illness, I want to use my voice my platform to share, educate and bring awareness to help fight for a cure.
When I was 10years old my grandmother Jeni was rushed to the hospital in Miami Beach where she lived for the winters on the verge of a diabetic coma. She was administered insulin and that saved her life. The insulin had to be injected twice daily from a vial and measured accordingly; there were no pens as there are today. Her blood test had to be done twice daily; there were no scanners as there are today. At that stage in my life with no internet I began to educate myself on the disease and be passionate about healthy eating. I have seen firsthand what this debilitating disease can do.Â
After her passing, I designed the Jeni Bracelet in her memory and will donate 15% off every bracelet sold to The American Diabetes Association. This bracelet can be purchased all year on my website and the donation will happen all year long.
The color theme of their association is Red and Grey, perfect addition to our fall wardrobes.

The fight against Diabetes is very personal to me, my maternal grandmother fought diabetes for over 30 yrs. I had to learn how to administer insulin and check her blood sugar as well. I was only a ten year old child at her diagnosis and I was terrified and devasted, not knowing what the future will bring.
